How Bees Fly

Anyone who has seen Simon Rees' wonderful talk about 'How Bees Fly' (available on YouTube) may feel that there is nothing else to wonder about, regarding the flight of bees; but I do have a little more to enquire. I would like to know how bees land. Watching the bumble bees and honey bees in the garden, I have been amazed at the speed with which these aerodynamic creatures approach their targets. It is strikingly different from the way in which, for example, the hover flies seem to stand still in the air above their chosen landing place, before they finally decide to descend onto the landing pad. I imagine they are being cautious.
