In the letters to the editor in the January 2020 issue I mentioned that Julia Toft, the Secretary of the Cairns and District Beekeepers Association Inc. has written a book for beginner beekeepers in Tropical Queensland. Julia kindly sent me a copy of her book ABC of Beekeeping: A New-bee’s Guide to Beekeeping in Tropical Queensland.

Julia bought a Flow Hive when they were seeking crowd funding, which sat in her living room awaiting assembly while she tried to learn more about bees. In this search, she attended a meeting of the Cairns and District Beekeepers Association, who were about to be incorporated, and offered to become Secretary. The book reflects the questions that beekeepers have asked Julia since then. I wish I had a copy when I was starting out in beekeeping!
