Beekeeping can cut through boundaries. Usually I write about this in the international sense— from country to country and culture to culture, how honey bees interest and inspire people across the world. Recently I have been exposed to a different set of boundaries that beekeeping can cross — social and physical ones.
Someone with a disability - physical, mental or both - can still be a beekeeper. Indeed, one of the most important figures in apicultural history, Francois Huber, was completely blind. With the right kind of support, all it takes is a keen interest and openness to develop a relationship with honeybees.
